New Year's
Prosperity Draw 2016

Don't forget to prepare for Prosperity in the New Year!!

NEED:       Paper money, any denomination

CAST:        Before you go to bed, put the money outside the front door, under the mat or tucked in a corner. Make certain a bit shows, because nothing in life is gained without a little risk. Upon waking next morning, bring the money back inside the house first thing January 1st.

Set your intention – ‘Every day I endeavor to bring health, prosperity and happiness into my home’. Place the money into the piggy bank (jar/bowl/bank) and continue to 'feed' it throughout the year with change. Repeat the intention each time.

Yule Sabbat 2004 CO1

CircleOfOne, Yule, 12/31/04

CircleOfOne has come to the conclusion that if we’re to thrive where we’ve been planted then we should begin paying closer attention to our own environment.  So we’ve begun looking at how the seasons and holidays actually affect our lives here in Florida.  Rather than consulting books and articles that have been written by strangers in strange lands, we’ve decided to look closer to home to develop traditions and customs for our area.  Yule and Winter are generally a time of great hardship and severe weather for many people.  But for us here in Florida this is a time of abundance.  The weather is cool and crisp and allows us to play out doors without the bugs.  Florida crops grow best during these winter months.  Flowers still bloom around us.  This is the best season for many of us to become active and get things done that we don’t do during the hot months.

So, I searched through many Yule Time and Christmas traditions to find something that signified the abundance of our season.  It was a little tough, but I finally managed to find something.  Tonight, we’re going to pay tribute to the much misunderstood and often maligned Fruit Cake.  What better symbol of abundance than a Fruit Cake just filled with everything under the sun?  Dating back to the Romans, fruitcake was once a relatively modest affair of pomegranate seeds and barley.  Over the years, they’ve been created with every form of fruit, spice and alcohol known to man.  Fruit Cakes have a reputation of lasting for quite a long time.  They have perseverance.  Now it’s been a popular belief that there exists only one original Fruit Cake that is simply passed on person to person each year.  This is not true; in fact, over 800 million Fruit Cakes are created each and every year to be enjoyed around the world.  Sadly, the very first original Fruit Cake was lost many, many years ago.  It is said that there was actually a fourth Wise Man who journeyed to Jesus’ birth.  Unfortunately, it was discovered that he carried the Fruit Cake and he was accosted by angry townsfolk who threw him into a cave and rolled a huge boulder into the entrance.  It’s been said that it was that original Fruit Cake that sustained him for the remaining years of his life.

FREE RANGE FRUITCAKE

INGREDIENTS
4-5 cups Sun-Dried Fruit, any variety, diced
(Raisins, Currants, Cranberries, Blueberries, Cherries, Apricots, Mango, Pineapple)
Zest & Juice of One Lemon
Zest & Juice of One Lime
¼ Cup Candied Ginger, chopped
1 Cup Gold Rum
1 Cup Sugar
1 ¼ Sticks Butter
1 Cup Lemon/Lime Juice & Apple Juice, combined
¼ Tsp Ground Cloves
¼ Tsp Allspice
1 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
1 Tsp Ground Ginger

1 ¾ Cups Flour
1 ½ Tsp Salt
1 Tsp Baking Soda
1 Tsp Baking Powder
2 Eggs
½ Cup Toasted Pecans, broken

Brandy or Gold Rum for Basting and/or Spritzing

DIRECTIONS
Heat oven to 325 degrees
Grease a large glass baking pan

In a medium bowl zest the lemon & lime, then squeeze the juice into a one-cup measure. Add just enough apple juice to complete the one cup needed for the cake. In the same bowl combine dried fruits, candied ginger and both zests. Mix to combine.

In a non-reactive pot combine dried fruits, rum, sugar, DF butter, juice and spices. Bring mixture to a soft boil stirring often, reduce heat and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes. Turn off heat and leave to cool for about an hour.

Combine dry ingredients and then add half of the fruit mixture. Bring batter together with a large wooden spoon and then stir in eggs one at a time until completely integrated. Add remaining fruit mixture and combine well, then fold in nuts. Spoon batter into the baking pan and allow batter to sit for 15 minutes before baking.

Bake for 1 hour, check for doneness by inserting toothpick into the middle of the cake. If it comes out clean, it's done. If not, bake another 10 minutes, and check again.

Remove cake from oven and place on cooling rack or trivet. Baste or spritz top with brandy or rum and allow cooling completely. When cake is completely cooled, seal tightly and set aside. Every 2 to 3 days, feel the cake and if dry, spritz with brandy or rum. The cake's flavor will enhance considerably over the next two weeks.

Yule Saging 2009 CO1

Yule Saging 12/19/09
Welcome/Introduction

Welcome, and thank you for joining us tonight. We’re a teaching Circle and we welcome questions or comments about our Ritual. Please feel free to speak to any of our members after Circle.

Tonight’s ritual is a "Saging".  This is the time in a Man’s life when he recognizes that he has become an elder in his Community and his life.  It’s a time when his focus moves from being the protector and provider to becoming the teacher and guide.  This is also a time when his Community, Friends & Family recognize his wisdom, appreciate his help and acknowledge the many things he has achieved in his lifetime.  It’s a celebration of his age and his accomplishments.

Smudge/Anoint
(Nag Champa - Smudge all participants assisting them in letting go of any negativity, feelings, thoughts, or baggage that they are carrying from the day)
(Water – Anoint all participants and welcome into Circle with a hug or smile)

Ground and Center

Yule is the time of the old winter gods!
Hail to Baldur! To Saturn! To Odin!
Hail to Ameratsu! To Demeter!
Hail to Ra! To Horus!
Hail to Frigga, Minerva Sulis and Cailleach Bheur!
It is their season, and high in the heavens,
May they grant us their blessings this winter day

The Winter Solstice marks the longest night and shortest day of the year. In northern climates, this is the darkest and coldest time of the year. The sun appears weak and it's as if winter will last forever. But as soon as the Solstice passes, the days will begin to grow longer as the Sun rises earlier and earlier, each time adding a little more of His light and warmth to the cold and silent days of winter. The Winter Solstice marks a dramatic point in the Wheel of the Year. The Sun symbolically dies and is reborn.

Yule is a time of mixed emotions for many Pagans. All around us we see evidence of Christmas, a religious holiday that is not part of our tradition, but that we know takes form and meaning from ancient pagan practices. The holiday season also brings the added emotional, physical, and financial stress of unceasing work schedules, decorating, shopping, office parties, special dinners, and more family visits. It's easy to forget the meaning of Yule amidst the commercial madness. It's easy to get wrapped up in Christmas and forgo Yule altogether, especially when many of us have friends and families who celebrate Christmas.

On this Yule we’re going to pause for a moment.  Before we shove the old Gods out to begin a new year, we’re going to stop to honor the elder Gods.  We’ll take the time to remember our own elder’s; the men in our lives that have advanced in age, in wisdom and maturity, in experience and education. Our elders have done a lot for us, directly or indirectly and most of us owe everything to their kindness and love.  Our elders have also been through all the phases the young are going through and know a little more about the world than we do. However much we may disagree with them, we must give them credit for their experience.

Quarter Call

North - We call to the Elders of the North, keepers of the wise Oaks and the beautiful Evergreens, we ask for your participation and protection in our ritual this night.  Enter our Circle and be blessed.

East - We call to the Elders of the East, keepers of the ever changing winds and the gentle breezes, we ask for your participation and protection in our ritual this night. Enter our Circle and be blessed.

South - We call to the Elders of the South, keepers of the ancient Flame and the glowing embers of earth, we ask for your participation and protection in our ritual this night.  Enter our Circle and be blessed.

West - We call to the Elders of the West, keepers of the timeless oceans and the tranquil falling rain, we ask for your participation and protection in our ritual this night.  Enter our Circle and be blessed.

Invocation

I call to the Elder Gods of the Universe, the wise ones who teach us life's lessons and bring us times of great joy, and we welcome your presence, your positive energies, and your protection this night.  We ask for your guidance and wisdom thru the days to come, as we have in the days that have passed. We ask that you please enter our circle and be blessed.

Cast Circle

Three times round this Circle’s bound. From the North and the East to the South and the West then back to the North again. We cast this circle thrice about, to keep all positive energies in, and negative energies out.
The first circle is of Love and it’s never ending journey thru our lives,
The second circle is one of strength and growth as we walk our path,
The third circle cast is of one of protection and guidance, to draw all positive energies in, and deflect all negative energies out.
Three times round this Circle’s bound.  North, South, East and West from edge to edge this Circle is cast. So Mote It Be.

Working

This is the time when we recognize the elder men in our lives; those still present and those who have passed, our fathers, step-fathers, uncles, family friends, grandfathers even our great-grandfathers.  This is a time to remember those older men in our lives who have taught us, told us stories, been there for scraped knees, bloody noses, and stitches; as well as the special times in our lives, graduations, weddings, the birth of our children.

For the working tonight I ask everyone to stop for a moment and think of the important older generation of men in your life – brothers, fathers, teachers, and friends.  I invite you to speak of something that you remember that they may have taught you, whether it was an important life lesson or a simple task well done. You are welcome to tell us about a special time in your life that they were there for you.  I invite everyone to share a memory of one of these times with everyone in circle.

Wish Box

Our Wish Box is a tradition within our Circle.  At each Sabbat we invite participants to join in.  A wish, a hope, a thank you note…write it on the piece of paper being passed out, with the pen supplied.  Please remember it is your action and intent that’s important.  So if the pen doesn’t write, it’s ok.  As we write the new wishes for the box, we’ll burn the ones from our last ritual that have been gathering energy.  By burning them, we release the energy back into the universe to carry our wishes with them.

Cakes N Ale

We bless these cakes and ale with the wishes of the youth, the dreams of the parents and the memories of our elders. All that we do is in service and in honor to the God and Goddess.  May we never hunger - May we never thirst.  So Mote It Be!

Release Quarters

West - We thank the elders of the West for their help and protection with our ritual honoring them this night; may your blessings and protection stay with us always.  We bid you well as you depart, may there be peace between us; may you always Blessed Be.

Thanking the God

We thank the elder gods of the universe for their presence this night, their guidance and blessings for our ritual. We thank him for his positive energy and protection this night. Stay if you will leave if you must.  Blessed be.

Circle Closing

We thank everyone for joining us this night for this very special Circle honoring the elder men in our lives. The Triple Circle around this place stands, strengthened by our Ritual here tonight.  This will remain an open Circle, never broken; a welcoming haven to all who visit. May those who guide us with their light, protect us in the dark and walk beside us on the roads traveled - this Circle is open but unbroken, merry meet, merry part and may we merry meet again!

Yuletide Carols 1996 CO1

Yuletide Carols, 1996

Lady Moon
(To Little Town of Bethlehem)

Lady Moon shines softly down
To light the earth below
As we her children gather here
Around the Yule fire’s glow
We wait for mornings dawning
First light of holy birth
Our Lady turns the wheel of life
Her sun returns to Earth
With joy we’ll greet his dawning
A new year has begun
With increased light is bright new hope
Reborn is everyone.

Wiccan Wonderland
(To Winter Wonderland)

Pagans sing, are you listenin’
Altar’s set, candles glisten
It’s a Magickal night, we’re having tonight
Dancing in a Wiccan Wonderland

Blades held high, censer smoking
God and Goddess, we’re invoking
Through Elements Five, we celebrate life
Dancing in a Wiccan Wonderland

(Chorus)
In a circle we can light a Yule fire
And await the rising of the Sun
It’s the Great Wheel turning for the new year
Loaded with abundance and great fun

Queen of Heaven, is in her place
Triple goddess, now the Crone face
Above and below, She’s the Goddess we know
Dancing in a Wiccan Wonderland

Now the God, is the provider
Supplying game for our fire
Above and below, He’s the Horned One we know
Dancing in a Wiccan Wonderland

(Chorus)
Later on, by the fire
Cone of power, gettin’ higher
It’s a Magickal night, we’re having tonight
Dancing in a Wiccan Wonderland

Joy to the World
(To...guess what?)

Joy to the world! the Lord has come
Let earth receive her King.
Let every heart prepare him room
And Heav’n and Nature sing
And Heav’n and Nature sing
And Heav’n, and Heav’n and Nature sing.

Joy to the world!  The Sun returns
Our Lady gives Him birth
The living light will warm our hearts
And wake the sleeping Earth
And wake the sleeping Earth
And wake, and wake the sleeping Earth.

Light we the fires to greet our Lord
Our light, our life, our Lord
Let every voice sing praise
And Heav’n and Nature sing
And Heav’n and Nature sing
And Heav’n, and Heav’n and Nature sing.

Silent Night
(To...you guessed it!)

Silent Night, Solstice Night
Quiet rest, dim the light
Turning ever the rolling wheel
Bring the winter to comfort and heal
Rest your spirit in peace,
Rest your spirit in peace.

Silent Night, Solstice Night
All is calm, all is right
Nature slumbers in forest and glen
Filling streams she wakens again
Sleeping spirits grow strong,
Sleeping spirits grow strong.

Silent Night, Solstice Night
Silver Moon, shining bright
Snowfall blankets the slumbering Earth
Yule fires welcome the Sun’s return
Hark the light is reborn,
Hark the light is reborn.

Gods rest ye, merry Pagan folk

Gods rest ye, merry Pagan folk, let nothing you dismay.
Remember that the Sun returns upon this Solstice Day!
The growing dark is ended now and Spring is on its way -
O, tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy.
O, tidings of comfort and joy.

The Winter's worst still lies ahead, fierce tempest, snow and rain.
Beneath the blanket on the ground, the spark of Life remains!
The Sun's warm rays caress the seeds to raise life's songs again -
O, tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy.
O, tidings of comfort and joy.

Within the blessed apple lies the Promise of the Queen,
For from the pentacle shall rise the orchards fresh and green!
The Earth shall blossom once again, the air is sweet and clean -
O, tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy.
O, tidings of comfort and joy.

Gods rest ye, merry Pagan folk, let nothing you dismay.
Remember that the Sun returns upon this Solstice Day!
The growing dark is ended now, and Spring is on its way -
O, tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy.
O, tidings of comfort and joy
